Computer Science, B.S.
Computer science is the stimulating force at the center of the information revolution of the 21st century. Advancements in computer science have transformed all aspects of society and new fields of study have emerged such as bioinformatics, robotics, network security, computer graphics, telemedicine, big data and information management, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, biometrics, the interaction between computers and humans, and software engineering. As a field of study, computer science encompasses the analysis, design, and implementation of computer-based systems as well as their maintenance and advancement.
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science offered by NYIT prepares graduates to be creative, inquisitive, analytical, and detail-oriented. The program is designed to allow students to gain theoretical knowledge and apply it to developing an in-depth specialization in one area of concentration, ensuring they become proficient in developing computer applications in a number of frameworks.
Computer Science, M.S.
The graduate program leading to a Master of Science in Computer Science is designed to serve a wide range of professional interests and within this framework takes a practical approach to computer applications.
NYIT's program is suited for individuals with a baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering, management, information technology, mathematics, or related fields of interest. Our curriculum is consistent with the recommendations of the Association for Computing Machinery.
Electrical and Computer Engineering, B.S.
The primary goals of the Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering program at NYIT are to produce well-rounded graduates with a broad range of skills, aptitudes and interests who are prepared for successful careers in industry, government, or the pursuit of graduate studies.
These goals are satisfied by required and elective courses in liberal arts, humanities, science, mathematics, computer science, and electrical engineering with an increasing emphasis on design. Established sequences provide both depth and breadth in the major areas of study and offer a degree of flexibility through the choice of elective courses.
Electrical and Computer Engineering, M.S.
NYIT‘s graduate program leading to a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering provides advanced knowledge and skills for the professional electrical and computer engineer or student who wishes to pursue advanced studies. Our curriculum emphasizes practical design-oriented engineering and its underlying theoretical concepts.
Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, B.S.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology offers courses leading to a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. Our hands-on program provides students with knowledge of the tools, applications, and implementations of engineering theories and practices. Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology education is based on a combination of classroom and laboratory instruction resulting in a knowledge which is more applied. Students acquire skills to build electrical and computer based systems, program devices and systems, design micro-based based systems, run engineering projects and much more. Graduates with degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering Technologists, work in areas that deal with design, implementation, testing and manufacturing of engineering products; alternatively they can work in engineering operations, sales and technical services.
Energy Management, M.S.
NYIT's Master of Science in Energy Management provides professionals in business management or engineering and college graduates in compatible fields with the most up-to-date knowledge in energy management. Our program equips students with the interdisciplinary skills required of the new class of energy managers, in particular, modern energy technology, business practice, policy development, program analysis, cost-benefit evaluation and computer-assisted management techniques.
Engineering Management, B.S.
NYIT offers courses leading to the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the Old Westbury campus. This program was initially implemented at NYIT in 1982 and first accredited in 1986 by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. Students have the option of selecting a concentration of courses in aerospace engineering in the mechanical engineering option.
Environmental Technology and Sustainability, M.S.
The M.S. in Environmental Technology and Sustainability is a practice-oriented program that brings together the many aspects of engineering, environmental science, sustainability, ecology, law, pollution prevention, climate change, contamination mitigation, and technology needed in today's modern world. Students will learn to understand and apply the best methods and practices used in environmental systems for air, water, energy, and waste. The technologies and practices presented in the program are the foundation of all modern efforts aimed at improving environmental conditions and advancing sustainability goals, according to the United Nations.
Information, Network, and Computer Security, M.S.
NYIT's Department of Computer Science offers the Master of Science in Information, Network, and Computer Security. The program, applied in nature, is focused on the study of several important security skills that are in short supply. It addresses aspects of security, providing a comprehensive understanding of security and its implications on networks, Web services, infrastructure, cyber security, databases, and software design. Specific areas of study include, but are not limited to, best practices in security, network protection, intrusion detection, and hacker exploits.
Information Technology, B.S.
NYIT's Bachelor of Science in Information Technologywith a Concentration in Computer Security produces well-rounded graduates with a range of skills, aptitudes and interests.
