Digital media arts generally refer to the various artistic design and manufacture with the digital and information technology, including: information art design, digital video art, computer animation, virtual reality, web art, video games, television ads, Internet games, mobile media, digital audio, CG images.
This major is to bring up advanced compound talents with modern consciousness who are all-round developed morally, intellectually, physically and aesthetically with comprehensive theoretical knowledge, good arts literacy, strong digital media art and design, integration ability of information technology and art, creative ability to find the new solution according to information industries and social demands. This major focus on improving the quality of students in the humanities and digs their artistic potential, working in the arts and the intersection of digital technology to develop an international outlook, innovation and the new humanities, arts, scientific and technological quality of the compound talents.
After four years of systemic training, students will gradually grasp the basic theory of digital media arts and basic skills of digital media art and design, design and creative ability, design methods, with digital video art, digital animation, digital information art design such basic quality of professional experts in cultural and creative art and design innovation in emerging industries. This major covers many fields such as arts, literature, engineering, computer applications. The major courses include: Introduction to Digital Media Arts, Animation Basics Introduction to Arts, Digital Media Technology Basics, Design Basics, Audio-visual Language, Design Psychology, Animation and Comics Design, Information Art and Design, Film Cameras, Video Editing, Electronic Music Production, Multimedia Technology, Digital Image Processing, Interactive Media Design, Film Synthesis and Effects, Digital Video Production, 2D Animation, 3D Animation and so on. Students can be granted Bachelor Degree of Literature, obtaining the obligatory credits according to the teaching program.

Communication Arts students may focus on the converging aspects of the traditional media, programming and production for television and film, audio recording—radio and audio, advertising/public relations, print and electronic journalism, corporate and international communication.
Our newly equipped laboratories also permit study and experimentation in the latest aspects of digital and motion graphics, web design and new media which may be integrated into multiple media platforms including the web.
All NYIT Communication Arts students receive a solid conceptual grounding, hands-on instruction in the practical aspects of the discipline, and digital literacy on the latest equipment. Through this combination of learning and doing, of time-honored principles and timely applications, our students learn how to function successfully in the new, integrated world of communications.
